Wine Valley Catering recently hosted an open house for its new wedding and event venue, Pavilion by the Bay. Located just a stone’s throw from San Francisco, on Treasure Island, Pavilion by the Bay is a gem of a ceremony and reception venue offering magnificent views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge.
The heart of the venue is the Pavilion, a 6500+ square foot permanent tent structure that can accommodate more than 300 people for a sit-down dinner with dance floor. The state-of-the-art pavilion was designed by a German company and offers air-conditioning, heating and a beautifully-canopied ceiling. The adjacent outdoor lawn area is ideally situated for those couples wishing to host their ceremony on-site.
Lorene McCaffrey, Wine Valley Catering’s proprietor, describes the new event space as a “hidden treasure on Treasure Island, where your guests will be in awe of the city…Absolutely spectacular!”
Wine Valley Catering is the exclusive caterer for the Pavilion by the Bay and Classic Party Rentals is the exclusive rental provider.

New Venue: Treasure Island’s Pavilion by the Bay
Built by the federal government, Treasure Island was planned for and used as an airport for Pan American Airline’s Pacific Rim service of flying boats. After the World’s Fair 1939–40 Exhibition, the island was scheduled to be used as an airport when the Navy offered to exchange Mills Field on the San Francisco Peninsula near the city of Millbrae for the island. The City and County of San Francisco accepted the swap, and the airport was built at Mills Field.
Just opened, the Pavilion by the Bay is a state-of-the-art glass and steel structure with a white membrane roof and full air conditioning and heating. The ceiling is fully lined with a beautiful, French pleated canopy. Located in the middle of San Francisco Bay, on the famous Treasure Island, guests will be overwhelmed by the sweeping view through the Pavilion’s dual-glazed tinted wall of windows, a view which includes the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the entire San Francisco Skyline including Fisherman’s Wharf. This view is absolutely unlike anything else in the City.

Why We Like This Place
Banners, kites, fireworks, pleasure barges floating by—the festive spirit of Treasure Island will sweep you away when you set eyes on this spectacular venue. Situated on broad lawns next to the bay, this enormous, high-peaked, genesis-tented white pavilion is one of the most captivating properties imaginable.
Completely expandable, heated or cooled, it has glass walls on three sides to let the views in, which in this case means an eye-level panorama of the San Francisco cityscape, all three bridges and the glittering face of the bay. The interior dimensions and details can be easily modified to suit your celebration, and the sky’s the limit as far as lighting goes. Eight huge double doors open onto the landscaped grounds, giving events that oh-so-desirable indoor-outdoor flow. On the western end of the pavilion, the glass panels fold up to allow access to the Great Lawn (which is huge), an ideal place for a ceremony, a picnic, a fair, a parade. If you want to further increase the size and scope of your function, include the charming salon and courtyard of Casa de la Vista, another attractive building near the pavilion. You can also exchange vows in the lovely little chapel a few steps away.
If ever there was a place made for parties this is it. Treasure Island, a man-made body of land created from imported fill on the shoals of Yerba Buena Island, was “built” by the U.S. Government for the 1939–40 Golden Gate International Exposition. Truly a treasure—the island was christened after the Robert Louis Stevenson novel of the same name—it’s situated around mid-span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in one of the most picturesque points on the bay. Recently voted the hippest place to be married by InStyle Weddings magazine, it is a terrific site for any social or commercial event in which a stellar setting is a factor. Privacy is a given, and the island even has its own police force.
But here’s the best part: What you get when you book Pavilion By The Bay is far more than a gorgeous location. The acclaimed professionals at Wine Valley Catering are the creative masterminds behind the development and management of this property, so you know that whatever you plan the execution will be flawless. There’s a full kitchen on site to ensure that every menu is prepared to their exacting standards. The food is fresh, organic, locally raised, carefully composed, exquisitely presented and can be paired perfectly with the very best Napa and Sonoma Valley wines. Naturally the service is impeccable; what else would you expect from a management team with over 125 years of experience between them?
It’s no wonder 7×7 Magazine calls this the best place to tie the knot. We have to agree and add that whatever the event, it’s certain to be the talk of the town if it’s held here.
